U14 Swans Triumph in Thrilling County Cup Final

In a match that will be remembered for years to come, the Under 14 Swans clinched Walton and Hersham Youth FC’s first-ever County Cup victory in a nail-biting encounter against Abbey Rangers at Meadowbank, the home of Dorking Wanderers FA and Surrey FA.

First Half Struggles: The Swans faced a tough first half, battling against strong winds that hampered their play. Despite their best efforts, they went into halftime trailing 1-0.

Second Half Comeback: The second half saw a rejuvenated Swans side take to the field. Callum Groom ignited the comeback with a brilliant goal, skilfully rounding the goalkeeper to level the score at 1-1. The momentum continued as Harvey Mufti soared to head in a superb cross from George Tricker, putting the Swans ahead 2-1. Just when victory seemed within grasp, Abbey Rangers equalised in the dying moments with a goal from a long throw-in, sending the match into a penalty shootout.

Dramatic Penalty Shootout: The tension was palpable as the teams lined up for penalties. The Swans displayed nerves of steel, converting all four of their spot-kicks. Abbey Rangers faltered early, missing their first penalty, and the Swans' goalkeeper, Ewan Maddocks, became the hero of the day with a crucial save to secure a 4-3 victory.

Special shout out to Alfie Granger who was awarded man of the match!

Historic Achievement: This landmark win marks the Club’s first County Cup victory. The management team, led by manager Mark Tricker and assistant Steve Cordery, along with coach Pat Kirby, were instrumental in guiding the team to this historic success.

Celebrations and Pride: The Swans' triumph is a testament to their talent, bravery, and resilience. The entire club is bursting with pride for their young champions, who have etched their names into the club's history books.
